This World Day of Social Justice, ILO Africa brings together leading figures from the world of work, politics, and the international community to chart the way towards a human-centred future with equal opportunities for all. Witness Africa's commitment to work together for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals through the Global Coalition for Social Justice.

World Day of Social Justice reminds us each year of the need to build fairer, more equitable societies. The ILO will mark the occasion this year with a series of seven events held in major cities around the globe. The events will bring together high-level speakers from across the world of work to discuss how to put social justice at the centre of international, national and regional policy agendas.

Join representatives of government, employers’ and workers’ organizations, the ASEAN Secretariat, Asian Development Bank and United Nations as they discuss what needs to change to make Social Justice in the world of work a reality across Asia and the Pacific.

The ILO Regional office for Arab States, is bringing together leading figures from the world of work, politics and academia to discuss how to achieve greater social justice in the Arab World in a pannel discussion. The event will also discuss the new report "Arab States Employment and Social Outlook - Trends 2024: Promoting social justice through a just transition."

Achieving Social Justice in the Arab States through a just transition

In a world riven by geopolitical tensions, and with our common future hanging in the balance, it is urgent that our societies aim for a strong and sustained dose of social justice if we are to meet the Sustainable Development Goals we have set for ourselves. Harnessing the diversity of actors hosted in Geneva for crosscutting responses to advance social justice is crucial and the Geneva ecosystem has the ability and responsibility to take courageous action.&nbsp;&nbsp;The panel discussion will&nbsp;explore the role International Geneva has to play in the quest for social justice.The event is organized&nbsp;by the Geneva Graduate Institute in partnership with the TASC Platform and in support of the launch of the Global Coalition for Social Justice, a ground-breaking initiative led by the International Labour Organization.

The event will gather six panellists to discuss pressing global challenges and social justice deficits, with a specific focus on social justice for all generations. From access to quality employment for the youth to skill opportunities for older generations in Europe and Central Asia. The aim is to propose tangible solutions and contribute to the establishment of a new global social contract in alignment with the 2030 Agenda.

The 2024 World Day of Social Justice provides an opportunity to foster dialogue on actions needed to achieve social justice by strengthening the social contract that has been fractured by rising inequalities, conflicts and weakened institutions that are meant to uphold and protect the rights of workers. By focusing on bridging gaps and building alliances in support of the Global Coalition for Social Justice, we can ensure the promise of enabling our societies and economies to function more cohesively and effectively; unlock the productive potential of countries and people; pave the way for sustained reductions in poverty and inequality – prerequisites for inclusive growth; and contribute to peace, stability and intergenerational solidarity.
