Organized on the margins of the UN General Assembly, this event will bring together governments, workers’ and employers’ representatives, UN partners and other stakeholders to discuss how the rapidly evolving platform economy can contribute to decent work, productivity and inclusive economic development.

Against the backdrop of artificial intelligence, new business models and changing employment relationships, the discussion will explore how international labour standards, labour market institutions, skills policies, social protection and social dialogue can help ensure that technological change benefits workers and enterprises alike. Particular attention will be given to the implications of the newly adopted ILO Convention No. 193 on decent work in the platform economy and the opportunities it creates for cooperation at national, regional and global levels.

The event is jointly organized by the ILO and the Co-Chairs of the Group of Friends of Decent Work, in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations, and UNESCO.
