In this episode of the World of Work Show, Deputy Director-General Celeste Drake discusses the Global Coalition for Social Justice, recently endorsed by the Governing Body of the ILO. With just days until the next UN Climate Summit, hosted by the United Arab Emirates, we look ahead to what is likely to be on the table in Dubai, the backdrop for the talks and what the ILO will be doing during the Conference. We also provide a sneak peek of what's in store at the forthcoming Congress on Safety and Health at Work, scheduled to take place in Sydney at the end of this month.

ILO-AICESIS International Conference
The role of social dialogue and its institutions in combating inequalities in the world of work
The International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS) and the Economic and Social Council of Greece (OKE) are jointly organizing a Conference on “The Role of Social Dialogue and its Institutions in Combating Inequalities in the World of Work”. The Conference is organized in the framework of a cooperation agreement between AICESIS and ILO.

Disability in sustainability efforts: Businesses leading the way
The ILO Global Business and Disability Network (GBDN) will host its 10th annual conference on “Disability in sustainability efforts: Businesses leading the way” on 14th and 15th November 2023 at the ILO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The conference will provide an opportunity to welcome new ILO GBDN members, facilitate the exchange of best corporate practices in disability inclusion, showcase the latest global and local business initiatives related to disability, and encourage informal networking among conference attendees. The conference will cover topics such as disability inclusion in companies' environmental, social, and governance efforts, addressing the intersectional needs of individuals with disabilities, self-identification and career advancement of employees with disabilities, and the impact of Artificial Intelligence on disability inclusion in the workplace.

How better data leads to better working lives
As 500 statisticians from around the world attend the 21st International Conference of Labour Statisticians at the ILO in Geneva, this World of Work Show will explore the crucial role played by labour market data in creating better economies and better lives. What exactly do these statisticians do and how do their insights shape business strategies and government policies. The Show will also take you behind the scenes of the #CoffeePeople campaign, which aims to promote and maintain safe and healthy working conditions within the global coffee supply chain.

21st International Conference of Labour Statisticians
The 21st International Conference of Labour Statisticians  (ICLS) held at ILO headquarters in Geneva from 11-20 October 2023 will celebrate the centenary of the Conference, that was first held in October 1923. Worker, employer and government delegates from the ILO’s Member States will tackle a wide range of issues that have a long-term impact on the world of work, including concepts, statistical definitions and methods for measuring key indicators for the advancement of social justice.
